[Creativists] have no fixed mind;
They make the mind of the People their mind.

Chapter 49, translated by R.L. Wing

I. CULTIVATE INTUITION

Ask creativists how they come up with great ideas, and they won't know. Inspiration occurs on its own. It can never be anticipated. Inspiration is like lightning; it strikes where and when it's least expected. Creativists can, however, train themselves to recognize inspiration when it does arrive. They can heighten their awareness and train themselves to act upon this awareness. Grounding themselves in current circumstance, they can attract lightning. They can act as conduits for creativity.

Creativists do this by cultivating their intuition, their non-rational perception of circumstance. Using intuition, they may anticipate social trends. By developing a strong vision of the way things must naturally resolve themselves, they can predict change. People who develop such an understanding will have lasting impact upon the current reality -- either directly through their actions, or indirectly through their creations.

Intuition is spiritual frame of mind. You definitely know when it's there and when it's not. It has an enormous effect on your creativity, as well as your general outlook. When you're in a good spiritual state, when you're intuitively aware, you're more enthusiastic. Nothing seems a chore because the answers are right in front of you. Things are fresh. The future looks bright. Creativists revel in the possibilities they perceive. They're motivated by what they may bring into being.

Creativists cultivate intuition by living a life of clarity and balance. Philosophical Taoism has much to say about the quest to live such a life. Many creativists use the Tao Te Ching and the Chuang Tse as primary texts. These two books contain clues for a life of simplicity, effortless action, harmony, and balance. Following the Tao is much the same as cultivating intuition.

Creativists endeavor to be rigorously self-honest. They must know themselves well, or run the risk of losing their intuition. Keeping a journal is a good way to do this. So is talking with other creativists.

Creativists communicate over the Immuexa network. They may also meet personally at one of the many weekly creativist meetings across the country. You can find a nearby meeting by calling the Immuexa hotline or by checking the Immuexa network.

please note: The word "Immuexa" was originally my name for what later became the World-Wide-Web. It's now the name of a company, not a network.

The software known here as "ThoughtShop" was originally called "Colony." The rights to the tradename "Colony" were sold in January 2000.
