The [creativist] gives himself up
to whatever the moment brings...
he doesn't think about his actions;
they flow from the core of his being.
Chapter 50, translated by Stephen Mitchell
II. USE SPONTANEITY
An intuitive understanding of circumstance quickly
fades when not acted upon. Creativists react immediately -- they
go with their gut. As soon as long drawn out plans are made, and
expectations arise, the circumstances themselves change, and intuition
is lost. Spontaneity is all-important. Creativists must minimize
their expectations and keep from becoming entangled in long-term
commitments. They must be ready to travel anywhere at any time.
They must create for themselves the freedom to act upon creative
impulses as they occur.
Creativists recognize that long-term plans often
miss their mark. They know that reason is a poor tool for predicting
the future. Instead of reason, they use intuition. They adapt to
change as it becomes apparent, with greater and greater faith that
things will always work out better than anyone can plan.
Just about anything can happen at a creativist
meeting. They aren't planned in any way. A chapter from the Tao
Te Ching may be read aloud, prompting a discussion about its relevance
to the lives of everyone present. Dramatic readings of work found
on the Immuexa network may take place. A topic may be chosen for
discussion. People may meditate or play interactive simulations.
Each meeting is different. The format and length is decided upon
by those attending.
