If you realize that all things change,
there is nothing you will try to hold on to.
Chapter 74, Mitchell
IV. FORM NO LASTING ORGANIZATIONS
It's a sad but frequent fact of life: organizations
lose touch with their ideals when they succeed and grow. Whether
it's a government, business, religion, or political party, any organization
will eventually serve only to perpetuate its own existence, even
if this means contradicting its initial aims. As individuals who
revere change, creativists avoid affiliation.
Creativists do organize, but only for short periods
of time. Groups are formed on a project basis. When the project
is completed, the group disbands. Individuals may again work together
on future projects, but such alliances ought never be formalized.
ThoughtShops as groups are also transient. ThoughtShops
sponsor projects, and current participation in a project makes you
a temporary member of that ThoughtShop. As soon as the project is
complete, you're again on your own.
All decision and delegation occur on a project
basis. There is no formal government, no elected representatives.
Everyone participating in a project has an equal say on all decisions
that pertain to that, and only that, project.
