Date: Thu, 17 Sep 1992 12:26:14 EDT I don't like the fact that this seems to be a one-way thing, you _lecturing_, or at least "holding forth", to the group. If it's going to exist it ought to be an interactive group discussion. If it's not, you can count me out. Also, the tone of the first two messages is a bit cute, flip, communicating a sense that the writer's own wit and intelligence is being self-savored, in what I take to be a rather sophomoric manner. There are modes of discourse that invite dialogue and reflective mutual participation and there are modes that amount to a kind of monological display. The two messages so far seem to partake of the latter, and in that their manner deconstructs their manifest content. Joe Lucia |
